Epiroc opens expanded manufacturing plant in India

The factory covers an area of 5,280 square meters and is adjacent to Epiroc's existing factory.
Epiroc, a Swedish manufacturer of mining and infrastructure equipment, officially opened its expanded rock drilling equipment manufacturing plant in Hyderabad, India. The 5,280-square-meter plant, adjacent to existing facilities, primarily produces rock reinforcement products designed to enhance mine safety, as well as rotary and down-the-hole drilling tools crucial for efficient drilling operations. The new plant is expected to begin production next month.
This expansion is part of Epiroc's strategy to drive the development of the mining industry in India and globally by providing products and solutions that improve safety and productivity. Helena Hedblom, President and CEO of Epiroc, stated: “Expanding our high-quality rock reinforcement and rock drilling tools capacity in India demonstrates our long-term commitment to this important and growing market and our global customers.”
Epiroc had already doubled the plant's capacity in 2017, and this further expansion is to meet increasing customer demand. This expansion is expected to create approximately 35 new jobs, contributing to the local economy and supplementing the approximately 300 employees currently at the Hyderabad production facility.
Arunkumar Govindarajan, President of Epiroc India, said: “By investing in local manufacturing and increasing capacity, we are not only supporting our customers' growth but also fostering sustainable productivity and innovation in the mining industry. This investment also supports our 'Make in India' initiative.”
The facility's groundbreaking ceremony was held in September 2024, coinciding with the launch of a new innovation technology center in Hyderabad. Additionally, earlier this month, Epiroc completed the acquisition of Australian company Radlink, which specializes in wireless connectivity solutions for mines.
