Caterpillar Acquires Mining Software Company RPMGlobal

After the acquisition is completed, RPMGlobal will retain its brand identity and continue to offer its products and services under its existing name.
U.S. equipment manufacturer Caterpillar has completed its acquisition of RPMGlobal Holdings, an Australian mining software company. The financial details of the deal have not yet been disclosed. This move is aimed at expanding Caterpillar’s portfolio of data-driven technologies and software solutions for the mining industry, helping customers to more effectively plan, operate, and manage their sites.
Dennis Johnson, President of Caterpillar’s Resource Industries Group, stated: “The acquisition of RPMGlobal represents a significant milestone and supports our strategy to address the daily challenges faced by mining customers.” “By combining RPMGlobal’s software capabilities with Caterpillar’s proven equipment and technology solutions, we will create new opportunities to help customers enhance mine-site performance while advancing the future of mining technology in a practical, scalable, and customer-driven manner.” Headquartered in Brisbane, RPMGlobal provides specialized software solutions across the entire mining value chain. The company will maintain its brand identity and continue delivering products and services under its existing name.
RPMGlobal CEO Richard Mathews said, “Given the complementary nature of the two companies’ technology products, Caterpillar is an ideal home for our people and software offerings.”
“By deeply integrating our solutions, we’ll be better equipped to tackle the most challenging issues that mining companies face every day. My team and I look forward to collaborating with Caterpillar’s team to bring greater value to our customers.” Caterpillar initially announced its plan to acquire RPMGlobal in October 2025.
In February of the same year, Vale and Caterpillar signed a five-year global framework agreement to expand their cooperation, with a focus on productivity, innovation, and carbon reduction initiatives.
