The campaign involved 22 drill-holes totalling 3,241m, marking the first systematic diamond drilling at the site.

SAGA Metals has completed its first diamond drilling campaign at the fully owned Wolverine Heavy Rare Earth Element Project in Labrador, Canada.

The programme involved 22 drill-holes, with a total length of 3,241m, and is the initial systematic diamond drilling carried out at the site.

The 2026 field campaign aimed to test known rare earth element (REE) mineralisation confirmed by earlier drill results and surface sampling, map alteration and outcrops near the drilling area and prospect areas beyond the immediate drill zone.

According to SAGA Metals, each drill-hole targeted a known area of mineralisation, evaluating several volcanic rock units and their contacts between depths of 43m and 204m.

Geological logging identified a consistent alteration assemblage considered indicative of REE mineralisation throughout all 22 holes.

Two of these holes have been fully logged and sampled.

The first hole, W26-001, reached a depth of 182m and intersected more than 118m of altered volcanic rock.

W26-002, the second hole, was drilled to a depth of 179m and recorded 50.97m of the targeted Unit 4 sequence.

Both holes showed alteration from near surface through to the base of the hole, and 139 core samples were collected from each. Assay results for these samples are pending.

During the programme, prospecting activities led to the collection of 136 rock grab samples across the property, with ongoing analysis to determine mineral content.

The company reported that volcanic units believed to host REE mineralisation were found in multiple locations, potentially expanding the area for future exploration.

Discoveries of new pegmatites and aplite dykes were also reported in the southern region of the property.

SAGA Metals plans to finalise sampling from the remaining drill-holes and complete geological mapping, with an induced polarisation survey scheduled for the second quarter of 2027 to guide future drilling plans.

SAGA Metals director and chief geological officer Michael Garagan said: “The 2026 maiden diamond drill programme at Wolverine has successfully confirmed the presence of the target alteration assemblage in every hole drilled and has provided the first systematic look at the volcanic sequence at depth.”

In August 2026, the company signed an agreement with Orion Iron Ore for the sale of its North Wind property in Labrador.
