MetalsGrove Mining completed the acquisition of three gold joint venture (JV) licenses in Côte d'Ivoire, West Africa, collectively known as the Central West Gold JV

MetalsGrove Mining announced on March 31, 2023, the completion of the acquisition of three gold licenses in Côte d'Ivoire, including the Vavoua, Vavoua West, and Kounahiri West projects. A binding term sheet for the acquisition was signed in April 2025.

This acquisition encompasses a strategically located license area situated 60 to 140 kilometers northeast of the Aboisso gold mine, which has produced approximately 3.8 million ounces of gold to date. The three licenses cover a total area of approximately 950 square kilometers and are all located within the Birimian greenstone belt, an area with over 50 kilometers of highly prospective Aboisso fault/shear structures. These structures are critical for gold exploration in the region and are consistent with the structural trends of the Aboisso gold mine.

The Vavoua license has received inter-ministerial committee approval and is expected to be formally granted soon. Yang Lijun, Managing Director and CEO of the company, stated: “Thanks to superior geological conditions, encouraging gold anomalies from nearby projects, and reliable structural data provided by aeromagnetic surveys, we are confident that this area has significant gold potential. Once final licenses are granted, we are ready to immediately commence initial exploration work.”

Geological exploration results from the surrounding area further enhance the potential of these licenses. High-intensity anomalous auger and soil lag sampling indicates that gold mineralization may extend into the acquired area. Artisanal mining activity exists within the license area, demonstrating significant near-surface gold mineralization potential in the region.
