Sandvik Wins Order for Zimplats Underground Mining Equipment

The contract is valued at approximately 280 million Swedish krona (US$29.96 million).
Sandvik has secured an order from Zimplats, Zimbabwe’s platinum group metals producer, for underground mining equipment to be deployed at the Ngezi mine complex. The contract, valued at approximately SEK 280 million, was signed in Q3 2025. The order includes a range of loaders, trucks, and drilling rigs, specifically comprising 12 Toro LH209L loaders, six Sandvik DD211L bolting rigs, five Sandvik DS211L rockbolters, three Toro TH545i trucks, and two Sandvik TH430L trucks. All equipment is expected to be delivered between Q3 2025 and Q2 2026, along with comprehensive parts and service packages designed to support the long-term performance of the machinery.
Zimplats is continuing to expand underground operations at the Ngezi Complex, a major platinum hub located within Zimbabwe’s Great Dyke Hartley geological complex. The complex has transitioned from open-pit mining to underground operations. A new fleet of Sandvik equipment will be deployed to support Zimplats’ ongoing underground expansion efforts. This order underscores our unwavering commitment to delivering equipment and services that help customers achieve their goals for productivity, safety, and sustainability.”
Sandvik is a global engineering group that provides solutions for the manufacturing, mining, and infrastructure industries. This August, Sandvik launched the AutoMine Surface Drilling Training Simulator to enhance operator skills and streamline automated drilling processes. The simulator is reportedly compatible with all i-Series surface drills, offering a "realistic, safe, and cost-effective" training environment tailored to meet the demands of modern mining operations.
