By the end of 2026, Liebherr will deliver 17 mining machines to six major mines in Queensland and New South Wales.

Liebherr Australia has signed a long-term equipment supply agreement with Glencore for its Australian operations. As part of the first phase of the agreement, Liebherr will deliver 17 mining machines to Glencore's six major business units located in Queensland and New South Wales (NSW) by the end of 2026. To ensure the long-term performance of these machines, Liebherr Australia will provide dedicated on-site support, including embedded technicians as well as training for operators and technicians. As part of the ongoing agreement with Glencore, in addition to the initial 17 machines, more machines are planned for delivery in Queensland and New South Wales in 2027.

Brian Boitano, General Manager of Sales, Marketing, Training, and Solutions Execution at Liebherr Australia, stated: "We are very excited to announce a new chapter of cooperation with Glencore. Signing such a large-scale long-term supply agreement is a proud moment for Liebherr Australia. It reflects our national team's capability to support large, complex fleets and deliver consistent performance across multiple sites." The agreement originated from Glencore's 2023 group tender and will initially deliver 10 R 9600, 5 R 9400, 1 R 9800, and 1 R 9100. Notably, seven of these machines will be powered by Liebherr's D9812 engines. To date, seven of the planned 17 machines have already been deployed at Glencore's mines. Two R 9600 excavators delivered to the Hail Creek mine are Liebherr's first equipment at Queensland mines.

In New South Wales, Liebherr Australia has delivered the first excavators to Ravensworth and introduced new machines to the United Wambo mine. Boitano added: "Over the past eight months, we have delivered multiple machines to Glencore, some of which are the first introduced to Ravensworth, demonstrating our high-performance product portfolio and marking an important milestone in our partnership." In the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, Glencore's Ravensworth, United Wambo, Bulga, and Mount Owen mines will receive 12 of the 17 machines by the end of 2026. In Queensland, Glencore's Hail Creek mine welcomed its first Liebherr machine, the R 9600, in February, added another in July, and expects to add one more in 2026. The company's plant in Rolleston will also receive two R 9600 machines next year.

Boitano concluded: "This agreement lays a solid foundation for our future development with Glencore. We look forward to more machines being put into operation in 2026 and 2027, with prospects for further expansion. Currently, production and reliability are critical, and we are honored to play an important role in achieving both. We are building a long-term partnership together."
